• What they actually do is invite mostly snake oil salesmen who love to be in the spotlight and love to shill their products, even if their product makes no sense or is just straight-up a scam. And it almost always ends up with a financial loss and the people end up hating "crypto"
• Long story short: I have very little hope that the type of "crypto experts" that are being put in front of a camera will change. Media loves to give attention to scammers since it gets them extra views and clicks, which means extra income from advertisement. It's a sad reality.
• That made me think. It's true. Everyone claims to be an expert. Everyone has an opinion on why Bitcoin either works or doesn't work. The reason might be because it's a combination of so many different fields of interest. Or, more likely, the reason is mostly because it's money.
• Because a project like Bitcoin is unique it's really interesting to compare for example the media attention it gets with "normal" industries where people work for a company. A company wants good PR, they send their C-level execs for interviews to "shill" their product.
• If a media outlet like CNBC, Bloomberg,... would invite the real experts, for example Bitcoin Core devs (if they even would want to be on tv which is doubtful), that would be "boring" for them. They don't want to talk about tech, they want to talk price, fud and hype.
• Yesterday I was talking with a friend about people jumping in a random conversation with no knowledge on the subject. This happens all the time and with every subject. Then she said "In crypto everyone's an expert because everyone made money. I wonder if that will change."
• I wish we had some kind of reputation system in place where people who actively spread lies lose all privileges and credibility and anyone giving them a platform would be negatively impacted as well.
